Komku is a Malaysian slang used to refer to comic book. The komku slang is a portmanteau for buku komik (English: Comic book). Sometime, It's also refer to Malaysian comic.

The term komku is a portmanteau of the Malay words buku (English: Book) and komik (English: Comic). The word komik and buku were mix and became komku. The original Malay word buku komik is reversed and became komik buku which lead to the slang komku.
History of comics in Malaysia[edit | edit source]
The history of comic in Malaysia happen before the country indiependence. It start with newspaper with Jawi script or Rumi script. Some of the newspaper is Majlis, Warta Jenaka, Utusan Melayu and more. Some of well known cartoonist that time is Osman Kangkung, Yahya Saidin and Ali Sanat.

Webkomku is a portmanteau of the word website and komku. The word is based on the English word webcomic. Webkomku means a comic published on the internet.
Webkomku can be compared to self-published print comics in that almost anyone can create their own webkomku and publish it. Webkomku range from traditional comic strips and graphic novel, and cover many genres, styles and subjects.
